Paul Beaton (Moderator)
Senior Program Officer - National Academy of Sciences
Paul serves as a Study Director with the National Academy of Sciences Board on Science, Technology, and Economic Policy. Recent work he directed includes An Assessment of ARPA-E, widely acknowledged for establishing a new benchmark for measuring and assessing the impact of programs to catalyze development of transformational technologies, and The Power of Change, which details the importance of innovation and transformational technologies for value creation and sustainability.
Paul also co-founded North Carolina’s first biofuels producer, Blue Ridge Biofuels, and conducted atmospheric chemistry research at the National Institute of Standards and Technlogy. He earned a B.Sc. in chemistry from UNC Asheville along with a J.D. and Master of Environmental Management from Yale.
