Dr. Nicholas Ashford is Professor of Technology & Policy and Director of the Technology & Law Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Ashford is the coauthor of two recent textbooks: Technology, Globalization, and Sustainable Development: Transforming the Industrial State and Environmental Law, Policy and Economics: Reclaiming the Environmental Agenda. He recently co-authored a major report on deep de-carbonization in Europe being considered by the EU Commission: "Aligning Policies for Low-carbon System Innovation in Europe."
Dr. Ashford served on the EPA Science Advisory Board and was chairman of the Committee on Technology Innovation & Economics of the EPA National Advisory Council for Environmental Policy and Technology. His research activities include work for the United Nations Environment Program, the OECD, and the European Union. Dr. Ashford holds both a PhD in chemistry and a Law Degree from the University of Chicago.
